Types of School Choice

A common misconception among many is that school choice only refers to private school vouchers.  While vouchers are a crucial component to any comprehensive education reform plan, the assertion that they represent the only type of school choice could not be farther from the truth!

Since economist Milton Friedman first developed the idea of school choice in the 1950s, policy makers have developed a variety of types of school choice, both public and private.  From charter schools to private school scholarships, today our children have more options available to them than ever before.
